The
celebrated mentalist ALAIN NU will astound audiences at the
National Theatre once again in eight free performances of
ALAIN NU: MINDBENDER on Fridays and Saturdays July
18, 19, 25 and 28. Two performances on each evening are scheduled
for 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm in the National's intimate Helen Hayes
Gallery.
The amazing Mr. Nu
is returning by popular demand, after people were turned away
from all of his Festival performances at the National Theatre
two years ago.
Nu performs baffling
mental demonstrations which reflect his own life-long interest
and study of telepathy, telekinesis, trances, hypnotism, psychokinesis,
parapsychology and other esoteric mental phenomena. He leaves
audiences thrillingly questioning the reality of what they
observe with their own eyes and hear with their own ears.
His methods involve the vaguely understood ability of the
mind to influence perceptions, matter, time, space and energy.
He celebrates "the
vast untapped potential of the human mind," explaining
that his presentations, "revolve around mysterious topics
that blur the line between magic and the most cutting edge
mysteries of life-sciences." He is fascinated by "the
powers of qigong, super memory, primal intuition,
non-verbal 'mind reading,' ghost apparitions and psychic energy."
Nu explains that his
uncanny performances involve a "clever conglomerate of
ideas, incorporating elements of probability, psychology,
suggestion, magic techniques, and good timing."
Reporter Curt Fields,
after watching Nu perform last year, remarked in The Washington
Post that "audiences are going to leave asking,
`How'd he do that?'"
Nu's confounding "demonstrations
of the power of the mind," are part of Washington DC's
3rd Annual CAPITAL FRINGE FESTIVAL. The Festival runs for
ten days in mid-summer.
