Saturday Morning Live! At The National was delighted to welcome back beloved artist Baba Ras D for his program The Harambee Experience on November 12th. Baba Ras D has been a Community Stage Connections teaching artist since the program’s early years and has performed for Saturday Morning Live! in the past. Baba Ras D and his band engaged children and their families in 45 minutes of music exploration centered on the theme of Harambee, which means “all come together” in Kiswahili. Children and families came together and played with various percussion instruments to go along with the beat of some classic songs like “The Wheels on the Bus” as well as Baba Ras D originals like “Pass The Peace so the Peace Can Increase”.
The National Theatre Foundation was proud to offer ASL interpretation for this show through Joyful Signing. All future shows in the Saturday Morning Live! season will have this service. Check out the gallery of images from the show below, and find out more information about the Saturday Morning Live! program here. We hope to see you and your children at a future Saturday Morning Live! event!
